I thank God for clown school and how it has increased our skills.

November 16th, 2009

I came to Show Me Clowns for the first time in 1993. Two teens came with me and we started a clown troupe in our church. During the past 17 years, we have had about 50 clowns come and go in our troupe.  We participate in about 35-40 events/programs/festivals a year.  Wayne Gillam (Mr. Sonshine), Carol Phipps, and Bubba Sikes have had a big influence in my ministry. We’ve had three clown schools at our church with Wayne and Aaron (Wayne’s son), training people from NE Missouri. We have been at the Missouri state fair on Senior Day for the past ten years. I traveled to El Salvador in January, and I clowned in the children’s hospital. My character, Nanna Anna, has been on mission in Nicaragua, Honduras, and Mexico as well as several places in the USA. I thank God for clown school and how it has increased our skills.

Show Me Clowns for Jesus is an inspiration

November 16th, 2009

Show Me Clowns for Jesus has been an inspiration to me since I first learned of it and made plans to attend my first conference in 2000. I improved my clowning skills every year that I attended; I increased the number of attendees by inviting my clown friends; I learned new ways to present the gospel; Show Me Conference is a personal retreat as well as an opportunity for multiplying my clown skills; I gained many new friends and increased my network of resource people. I can’t say enough good things about the Show Me Clowns for Jesus conference. I had to miss a couple years and my whole year just was not the same when I missed. Show Me just gets better and better each year. I missed Windermere but I love Springfield (it’s near my hometown) and the opportunities given the conference for growth and ministry is immense.

2010 Extended Early Bird Registration!

November 16th, 2009

Hey Clowns,

Because of the delay in getting our website launched this year, we have extended the Early Bird Registration deadline to November 15.  But don’t delay in getting your registrations in because the first 25 postmarked registrations we receive will get a FREE morning or afternoon Intensive class!  That’s a $30 value!!  Note too on the registration form that those who register in groups of 10 or more can take $10 off each registration!  You must all send your registrations in together. This offer only applies before the November 15 deadline, so register now to get the best deal! Please send a separate form for each person. Be sure also to order your special 25th Anniversary Show Me T shirt and include the payment with your registration.

The list of Intensive classes will be posted in the next few days and other classes will be listed as soon as possible, but the 2010 conference is shaping up to be the best ever!  We are so fortunate to have Tom Toombs and Brenda Marshall as our featured faculty. PLUS, a very Special Surprise Guest and a great list of other faculty that continues to grow week by week to provide you with the best teaching and training in clowning that you could get anywhere in the country!!

You’ll note this year we are doing the Show Me a Smile Day as our special emphasis. This “All Conference Field Trip” on Saturday afternoon will take us into area hospitals, nursing homes, children’s homes, shelters and just anywhere God leads for us to go to share His love and a clown smile with others. This event has already been recognized with a mayoral proclamation as a Springfield holiday!  We are working to make Show Me a Smile Day a recognized holiday in the whole state of Missouri and from there who knows where it could lead!  We are working on plans for some very high profile public spokespersons that can help us spread the word.  You should plan to bring your costume and makeup to dress out and lead the charge into the community.  Angel Contreras has developed our logo (thanks Angel!) and offered to make stickers that we can use for the event.  It will also be an opportunity for us to get a group picture all dressed out.  WOW!!  And you know when there are clowns dressed out, we have to have a parade!  Yes, we will parade for each other at the hotel; something I know that many of you have missed since the Conference moved to Springfield.

Because this will be our 25th anniversary as a ministry clown conference, the Task Force would like to increase the excitement leading up to the conference by assembling a special Anniversary Program booklet.  We would like for you to be part of this project by taking a few minutes to write a short personal story (one paragraph or less) of how the Show Me Clowns for Jesus National Conference has influenced your ministry or life.  Has it improved your clowning skills?  Have you used clowning to advance the gospel?  Have you become a more caring person? Please share your ’shining moments’ with us. We will try to get as many stories/testimonies as possible into the Anniversary Program.  We will also post some of these on the blog to encourage us in the days leading up to the conference.  Please send your e-mails to contactus@showmeclownsforjesus.org or send a letter to Show Me Clowns for Jesus National Conference, 9909 Manchester Rd. #327, St. Louis, MO 63122-1915.  Thanks in advance for your help.  If you know a clown who may not have come to the Conference for a while and might not have internet access, please share this opportunity with them. I know that God will bless you richly for your participation in this special tribute to what God has done with and through the conference.

Finally, if you would like to have your business card or a business card-sized, black-and-white ad (1/8th page) placed in the Program book that everyone at the Conference receives, please send us a jpeg file to the e-mail address or a camera-ready copy of the ad or card to the mail address below no later than December 1.  Don’t hesitate to give us a call if you have questions (314.822.5315).

Yours because of Him,

Dana “Liberty” Abendschein

Task Force Co-Chairman

P.S. If you ordered a DVD from last year’s Conference, they should be finished in the next few weeks and will be mailed to you. If you would like to receive a copy, a message will be posted on the website soon with details on how to order one.

What to expect on this blog

November 16th, 2009

Hey Ministry Clowns,

This blog will be used to help you know what’s going on and to get your feedback and PRAYER as the Task Force works to prepare for this years conference.  We will post some things in the next few days and regularly thereafter so that you can see what we are working on and pray with us about plans and challenges as they develop.  Sound exciting?  I think this is an awesome use of the technology God has given us.  In the meantime, pray that all of our decisions will be centered on God’s perfect will.

Yours because of Him,

Dana “Liberty” Abendschein
